work with joy
I share trauma-informed practice as a somatic therapist to support people in cultivating coherence on all dimensions. My mission is to anchor more love on Planet Earth for collective liberation and thriving.
A wholistic approach rooted in compassion
My work draws on evidence-based modalities, including Yoga Therapy, Integrative Restoration (iRest), and Somatic Experiencing, to help promote well-being for individuals, groups, and organizations.
As a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500), I have deep respect for ancient yogic traditions and my root teacher T.K.V. Desikachar. I am completing the last module of Advanced training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with gratitude to Dr. Peter Levine for developing this naturalistic, body-oriented therapy to resolve symptoms of stress and trauma.
“Fortunately, symptoms of trauma, when properly engaged and mobilized, can transform the trauma and propel us into new heights of healing, mastery, and even wisdom. Trauma resolved is a great gift, returning us to the natural world of ebb and flow, harmony, love, and compassion.” - Dr. Peter Levine, Waking the Tiger

"Joy is a precious guide. She has a wonderful sense of how to help people feel at ease. I now have more tools for soul-care and mindful living. She is so kind and wise; her tone of voice, her language, her cadence... the content of what she shares and how she shares it - she is really exceptional and so trauma-informed. I felt such a sense of comfort and safety. Fantastic!" - Rituals for Resilience client

Tools for Supporting Your Whole Being
Somatic Resourcing
Resources act as protective factors or buffers against stress. Anything that feels supportive and helps you settle in your system and come into present time is a resource (e.g. listening to a favourite song, walking in nature, connecting with a loved one, etc.). Somatic resources are body-based (e.g. grounding, centering, breathing, moving, etc).

Integrative Restoration
iRest is a trauma-informed protocol, which is supported by over 30 clinical trials/studies and widely used for post-traumatic stress, chronic pain management, sleep issues, depression, anxiety, resiliency and overall well-being. This practice is rooted in the ancient Tantric meditation practice of Yoga Nidra. iRest helps us to connect with a somatic sense of well-being no matter what is happening.
